Financial Close & Reporting
- Manage and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for completeness and accuracy
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Prepare and review financial schedules and analyses for management, auditors, and external stakeholders
Management of Accounting System of Record
- Assists in developing accounting organizational strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives
- Assists to manage the analysis and implementation of new accounting standards and reporting requirements
- Maintain chart of accounts
- Manage fixed assets and depreciation
- Perform technical research on complex accounting and reporting issues as required
- Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts
- Ensure proper and consistent financial accounting methodology, techniques, and policies are adopted by the schools and used in operations
- Assist to establish and/or implement internal controls to protect and preserve the Company’s assets
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
Financial Transactions
- Assists in annual financial statement audit in coordination with the Company’s external auditors
- Track capital costs and capitalization of completed projects
- Assist in projecting line of credit draw in compliance with composite score calculations
- Manage SAP Concur including Corporate Credit Card holders as well as expense reports and other associate reimbursements
- Manage student NCLEX incentive payments
- Oversee administration of the accounting workflow solution, FloQast, including all monthly operational and month-end checklists, as well as balance sheet reconciliations such as prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, capital in progress, leases, payroll, and deferred accounts, etc.
- Provides specialized or general calculations and analysis in various accounting functions such as allocations and accruals
Other Reporting Responsibilities
- Assists with the annual financial reporting required for education compliance bodies, including but not limited to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), and Commission for Independent Education (CIE)
- Manage the preparation of Annual 571 Reporting for personal property tax for several states and counties
- Preparation of excise tax filings, franchise tax filings, register creditor renewals
- Assists in various audits including property tax audits, sales and use tax audits and compliance audits
- Assists in managing the preparation of financial statements for internal and external parties
- Assists in forecasting of balance sheet and Composite scores
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff, providing coaching, performance feedback, and growth opportunities
- Review team deliverables and ensure workload is appropriately balanced and prioritized
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous-improvement-focused team culture
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with other departments including Finance, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Marketing, and Operations to resolve accounting issues and improve processes
- Serve as a trusted accounting resource to business partners by explaining financial results and accounting impacts clearly and effectively

- Adheres to College/University policies and procedures and conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the College/University’s Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards
- Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and as required to meet the needs of the College/University and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly

Your Experience Includes:
- Minimum of five years (including minimum two years of management) of diverse accounting experience with exposure to different areas of accounting and accounting principles, practices and procedures
- Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices and procedures in for-profit setting, internal accounting controls
- Proven ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
- Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems to supply the most accurate financial information.
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, specifically Microsoft Great Plains and education/student accounting systems (Anthology-CampusVue).
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, or complex service industry environments.
- Experience with audit processes and supporting external auditors.
- Advanced in full Microsoft Office Suite.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Certified Public Accountant (Active) preferred.
