Reporting to the Executive Director, Analytics and Reporting, the Manager, Business Intelligence partners with operational groups across the organization on identifying opportunities for analytic reporting, dashboard solutions, and AI enabled self-service insights to provide operational groups with a single version of the truth of all analytics. This person will lead the problem identification, data analysis, solution design, solution development, solution deployment, and operational implementation within the Predictive Analytics team. The Predictive Analytics team analyzes, designs, develops, and deploys analytic solutions to support the entire organization.
Conducts research to determine best approach to collect required data to create key performance metrics including retention, placement, tuition and scholarships, graduation rates, student learning, and other relevant academic success factors to be used for decision making related to enhancing student outcomes and academic excellence. Supervises the collection, analysis, and rigor of data for use by the organization. Performs data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of insightful descriptive analytic outputs including reports, dashboards, and other outputs. Accelerates insights by enabling organization with AI powered self-service Business Intelligence solutions, providing high quality visualizations, and leading analysis which guide end users’ interpretations of complex and sometimes muddled data
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of business intelligence solutions that provide insightful output
- Hands on with business intelligence software such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
- Outputs include reports, dashboards, insights, recommendations, etc.
- Lead implementation of AI-enabled analytics and governed self‑service dashboards to scale decision support across the College/University.
- Query various data sources to create cross functional datasets for analytic solution needs.
- Hands on querying of Analytical Data Store and Operational Data Stores
- Exploration of other internal and external data sources as needed to fulfill requirements
- Perform explanatory, pattern, and trend analysis on student academic and success data, recruitment and enrollment data, state board pre-licensure exams, financial and operational data.
- Hire, retain, mentor, and develop world-class talent to support business intelligence.
- Secondary Responsibilities include:
- Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly.
- Supervises Business Intelligence team members and reviews workload and analyzes staffing requirements. Interviews, selects, counsels, and evaluates staff to ensure effective support. Reviews the efforts of staff and provides direction where needed, ensuring timely completion in accordance with objectives.
- Monitors Power BI ecosystem to ensure that reports are refreshing at expected cadences and ensures system stability.
- Adheres to College/University policies and procedures and conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the College/University’s Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards

Preferred Education, Certifications and Licensures / Preferred Experience and Skills
- Advanced understanding and applications of statistics, data mining, programming and data visualization
- Expert working knowledge in SQL.
- Expert working knowledge in Python, R, SAS, or other data analysis/exploration language.
- Expert working knowledge in creating impactful data visualizations which lead end users to discover insightful findings.
- Expert in problem formulation and root cause analysis to ensure solutions solve the correct problem.
- Expert working knowledge in data preparation, data exploration, data analysis, and data visualization.
- Expert working knowledge in creating descriptive analytics utilizing one of the following or similar products: Power BI, Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics, Looker, Qlik, etc.
- Expert ability to automate the development, deployment, and delivery of analytic solutions.
- Expert in creating a single version of the truth and a culture of data driven decisions utilizing descriptive analytics.
- Experience with AI Q&A toolsets such as Microsoft’s Power BI Copilot, LangChain, etc.
- Strong understanding of establishing benchmarks to support a champion/challenger culture across the organization.
- Familiarity with cloud offerings and integration with visualization/reporting solutions.
- Demonstrated professional experience and working knowledge of quantitative analysis, data modeling and exploring disparate data sources.
- Demonstrated professional experience and working knowledge of longitudinal and relational database and database query tools.
- Ability to develop metrics, measurements, templates, and tools for continual improvement tracking and monitoring of key indicators for areas of responsibility that support data driven decisions.
- Ability to manage and work effectively in a highly ethnic and culturally diverse student and associate community as well as work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Experience leading analytical teams, including cross functional business and technology teams.
- Ability to use excellent organizational and analytical skills to self-direct, self-pace, multi-task and function well under pressure of deadlines and conflicting priorities.
- Ability to effectively use interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written, follow through with duties, provide attention to detail, and demonstrate the ability to motivate others.

Required Education, Certifications, and Licensures
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Math, Engineering or other quantitative/data mining field of study required with graduate level work highly desired.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience in data analysis, business intelligence, and the creation of insightful descriptive analytics with a minimum of 1 year experience leading a team of at least one BI/data analyst. The supervisory experience requires recruiting, evaluating, coaching and optimizing talents and staff in a strong statistical, analytic, data management, and reporting and data visualization line of work
